Becta is the main government agency responsible for developing the use of IT in education. It manages the National Grid for Learning (NGfL) on behalf of the Department for Education and Skills (DfES).

 National Grid for Learning http://www.ngfl.gov.uk
The NGfL is a collection of educational resources funded by the DfES, managed by Becta. It provides to regional and other grids, as well as other web sites devoted to the provision of educational resources.

The government site which deals with the programme of study and relevant teaching resources.
 


 The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) http://www.qca.org.uk
The QCA is accountable to the Secretary of State for Education and Employment and is a non-departmental public body. Involved in providing standards in education and training, the QCA helps to maintain and develop the curriculum amongst other activities.
 


 Virtual Teacher Centre (VTC) http://vtc.ngfl.gov.uk
A site created by Becta to provide on-line resources for teachers using the national curriculum.

A site developed by the Department for Education and Skills as a resource for people who work in schools.
 


 Campaign for Learning through Museums & Galleries http://www.clmg.org.uk
This organisation promotes learning in museums and galleries throughout the UK.

The local grid created by the Plymouth LEA provides information, resources and links for students, parents, teachers and those involved in education.

Managed by the Arts Education exchange this web site provides lots of stimulating projects for teachers to use in the classroom.
 


The Campaign for Drawing http://www.drawingpower.org.uk
The campaign started in 2000 to encourage people of all ages to draw! It provides information on events, courses and links to other useful sites.

Funded by JISC, Artifact forms part of the Resource Discovery Network, the UK's free national gateway to Internet resources for the learning, teaching and research community. The site is a free guide to the best of the web for the arts and creative industries.

This extensive online database from the British Museum includes information and good images of items across many useful topics.

A resource site which provides information on various major topics such as Romans, Egyptians etc and also provides lesson plans, useful information, and much more.

Specifically devoted to providing images of Plymouth's heritage.

The official web site of the monarchy providing extensive historical information about the history of the monarchy in England, Scotland and the UK but also information on royal residencies, the royal collection etc
