Introduction
QCA History Unit 6B : (Link to: Standards Site) |
Why have people invaded and settled in Britain in the past? An Anglo-Saxon case study |
There is currently one project available for Unit 6B. It was developed during 2004 in conjunction with St. Edward's Church of England Primary School, Plymouth. Thanks are due to Mike Wright, History Co-ordinator and Paul Scarbro, ICT Co-ordinator at St. Edward'sfor their enthusiastic support in the production of this project.

The activities developed with St. Edward's Primary School span the curriculum areas of geography, art and design technology as well as history. Other themes which could be explored in conjunction with this Unit might include the arrival of the Vikings, or the perspective of the indigenous inhabitants.

Anglo-Saxon Handling Collection & Support Visits
A selection of replica artefacts of the Anglo-Saxon period is available for loan to any school local to Plymouth intending to carry out this project using the images from the Cottonian Collection. This may be requested at the time of emailing for the Teacher's pack on the 'Contact Us' page.
In addition, the museum's Education Department offers a more extensive handling collection, including weaponry, and is able to support this project through visits to schools by one of the staff. To find out more and book such a visit, please contact the Education Department direct on (01752) 304771.
