Terms & Conditions
The following terms & conditions apply to all reproductions - there may be additional conditions for other types of reproduction. Permission to reproduce is dependent on the full acceptance of these terms & conditions. The Cottonian Collection reserves the right to refuse permission for any application. Such permission may be withdrawn should any part be infringed.
1. Copyright on all photographic materials remains the property of the Cottonian Collection.

2. If you wish to reproduce any works featured in this web site, you should first contact the Art Department who can supply you with a colour transparency or black and white print and grant
appropriate reproduction rights.
3. Application must be made, terms agreed and reproduction rights confirmed in writing before images can be dispatched. Permission to reproduce an image is normally granted subject to a reproduction fee, in turn dependent on the use of the image and the rights required.

4. Permission is only granted for the specific licensing terms stated. Additional permission for any other use including re-prints, further editions, separation film or re-employment of printing plates, require a new application and are not covered by the original fee.

5. Requests for use of an image which is to be used other than in full must be agreed in advance and accompanied by details of the proposals ie sketch or mock-up. In such usage the acknowledgement must include the word 'detail'.

6. In certain circumstances and types of publications a colour proof of the image may be requested prior to final reproduction.

7. All rights and permissions granted are non-exclusive.

8. Transparencies hired are not to be lent, re-sold, hired out or otherwise circulated to a third party without prior written agreement.

9. Transparencies will not be supplied to commercial picture libraries.

10. No photograph/transparency/digital image supplied for publication may be stored in a digital archive, nor duplicated for future use.

11. The period of hire will be specified at the time of ordering and dispatching.

12. A complete copy of each publication will be requested as part of the agreement and should be sent on the publication date.

13. Acknowledgement of the source of the image must be clearly displayed. The form of the credit line/ acknowledgement will be agreed and be part of the written permission. The minimum acknowledgement required for all reproductions is '© Cottonian Collection: Plymouth City Museum & Art Gallery'.

14. The minimum image details which should appear in connection with the reproduction of the item are the name of the artist/engraver, title, medium, Acc. No. as detailed on the transparencies, along with the agreed credit line. A fee will be charged for incorrect or insufficient acknowledgements.

15. The gallery will be the sole judge of the condition of a returned transparency. A replacement charge will be made for any transparency lost by the hirer or returned in a damaged state.

16. Reproduction of items in the Museum collections from photographs other than those supplied by the gallery is strictly prohibited.

17. Reproductions in an electronic or multimedia product are subject to additional terms & conditions.

18. The Cottonian Collection reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time but no changes will affect a transaction once entered into.

20. Please note: requests for copy images may take several weeks to process, please allow enough time.
