Welcome to the Cottonian Collection Search page.
 
There are several ways in which you can access information about the collections and their history. Start by clicking on the term 'Collections' in the top navigation bar - a list of object categories and information pages will appear in the left hand panel.

Some categories, or groups, of collection items can be searched for in more than one way, others are only available either through the category list in the left hand panel, or the search feature.

Search Feature
By clicking on the term Artist/Printmaker Search you can make an alphabetical search of artist/printmaker names and their associated objects. The following list of items can be searched in this way:
  • Oils
  • Drawings/watercolours
  • Prints
  • Sculpture
  • Reynolds
Some category/groups of items can only be searched for in this way, they are:
  • Drawings & Watercolours


Left Hand Navigation Panel
The following categories can only be accessed through clicking on the appropriate term in the left hand panel. They are:
  • Pottery & Porcelain
  • Furniture
  • Miscellaneous
  • Medals & Seals


Reynolds
The 'Reynolds' category collates information about a variety of objects all relating to the artist Sir Joshua Reynolds. Many of these collection items can be accessed through the search facility as well.



Artists Biographies
Some biographical information for artists and engravers will be added to the site in due course. This can be accessed by going through 'Search' and clicking on the individual artists name, where the term 'View Biography' appears.
